Custom designed for the 250-seat planetarium within the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, these bespoke chairs bring together comfort, durability and safety to optimise the visitor experience in this dramatic spherical space.
Manufactured with Poltrona Frau, the chairs meet stringent specifications and load requirements that cater to constant daily use by a wide demographic.
Each chair is supported by a steel frame finished with durable scratch-resistant powder coating; its minimal profile allows for the underside to be cleaned easily. Paired with a solid backing panel that protects the rear of chairs, the design is robust and hard wearing.
Chairs are finished with upholstery of Skinflex Polaris, an eco-friendly material that is pleasant to touch and often used in the automobile industry, creating seats and armrests that are both durable and comfortable.
From micro and macro interventions, to bespoke solutions, industrial design has always been a key component of Grimshaw’s portfolio. We are very excited to be working with Poltrona Frau to create this revolutionary new seating system.
