    Grimshaw Architects is seeking a talented and creative middleweight CGI Visualiser with experience in 3D modeling and rendering for a full-time position in our office in Melbourne.     Computational Design Specialist, New York

    We are looking for a Computational Design Specialist to join our Design Technology team in our New York office.

    Computational Design (CD) has a well-established history at Grimshaw, with projects such as Waterloo International Terminal and the Eden Project making use of parametric workflows to create complex architecture that remains cost-efficient.The use of computational design tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo and programming languages, has continued to grow across Grimshaw. Our in-house Design Technology team incorporates computational specialists who support and encourage the use of these tools in order to aid the design process alongside our BIM workflows.

    Responsibilities

    Project assistance

    Assist project teams in all phases of the design and documentation process focusing on computational design. Assist and develop early concepts through computational and associated studies, such as solar analysis, creation of a parametric geometries, and validation of design data. Research and develop new methods solving and validating design task.

    At-desk support

    As part of the DT team, the core task is to support project teams in achieving their day-to-day aims. The candidate would be available to answer any support questions that teams may have in a particular software or script.

    Training

    A key part of the DT mandate is to provide training to our teams, to continually improve the skillset of the office. The Computational Design Specialist should facilitate this training for computational tools and software. The office BIM manager would continue to provide training for Revit and other BIM tools.

    DT promotion

    Alongside the office BIM manager, the candidate would be expected to promote the use of DT tools within the office, allowing the project teams to always be using the best tools for the job. This in turn would have the benefit of helping to push Grimshaw to the forefront of the local CD community, drawing a higher calibre of applicant for future architectural positions.     Mid-Level and Senior Architects - Auckland, Auckland

Grimshaw is dedicated to working closely with our clients in the design of its buildings and environments to deliver projects which meet the highest possible standards of excellence and that inspire and transform our communities.

    As we continue to secure more exciting projects throughout New Zealand, we are currently seeking a number of talented Mid-Level and Senior Architects to join our New Zealand Team, predominately working on either Transport, Aviation, Master Planning or Mixed-Use related projects.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Contribute to the successful delivery of a complex, large scale project
    • Have responsibility for specific roles, areas or packages within a project
    • Work within an agreed scope and deliver complete ‘packages’ of work to deadline
    • Demonstrate design and technical aptitude, with developing design and technical confidence
    • Contribute to the generation and exploration of design and construction ideas, being aware of the balance of conceptual, aesthetic, constructional and cost influences
    • Contribute to the design work on ‘big picture’ context, objectives, composition, materials and colour, architectural ‘volume’ control, detail quality and build quality
    • Develop design work in close cooperation with other members of the Grimshaw project team
    • Assist with liaison with the client, stakeholders and authorities, in collaboration with Project Leads
    • Be attentive of client feedback, issues or potential problems and report any issues raised
    • Help assist and coach junior team members on the project

    To be successful you will have:

    • 5 - 15 years’ experience
    • Master’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent
    • Exceptional design skills with experience working on large scale projects
    • Knowledge of construction industry legislation, practice andprocedures

    Working knowledge of all project work stages

    Experience with Revit is essential

    • Excellent communication skills to work with internal and external clients
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • Ability to analyse and critically assess problems
    • Imaginative and creative thinking skills and ability
    • Registered or working towards architectural registration
