The Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU Poly), Rogers Hall   New York, NY, USA

Part of an extensive plan for upgrading facilities at NYU Poly, the Rogers Hall renovation introduces a naturally lit cafeteria and clear connections in the central corridor – the main gateway for the campus.

The revitalized cafeteria serves as a hub of activity for the institution and illustrates the importance of providing enjoyable places for students to meet, eat and make shared connections. Its glazed walls and doors replace heavy masonry walls, allowing daylight into the space and visually connecting to the courtyard beyond.

The renovated spaces carry coloured accents that delineate the airy interiors: sparky green panels clearly emphasise lift access in the corridor while bright yellow columns create vibrant counterpoints in the white-washed café.

Green measures have been implemented throughout the building, including daylight sensor performance and water conserving plumbing, helping NYU Poly reach its goals for a low carbon footprint.
