Grimshaw is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Whalley to the position of Chairman.
Andrew succeeds Sir Nicholas Grimshaw →, who founded the practice in 1980. Andrew has been an instrumental part of Grimshaw since the earliest days of the practice, and has led projects in a diverse range sectors including education, performing arts, transportation and workplace.
His award-winning projects include the International Terminal at Waterloo →, the Eden Project → in Cornwall, the redevelopment of the historic Paddington Station → in London and the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center → in Troy, New York.
“Andrew has worked closely with me for over 33 years and has been involved in many of our key projects. He has undertaken the role of Deputy Chairman for the last eight years. I will continue to make available my experience from the last fifty years in practice.” said Sir Nicholas.

We are also proud to announce that two new Partners have strengthened the global leadership, with the appointment of Annelie Kvick Thompson and Andrew Byrne as Partners in our London and Los Angeles studios.

Annelie joined the practice in 1997, bringing key experience to many of Grimshaw’s international projects, she has been involved in a diverse range of schemes around the globe.
Annelie returned to London in 2015 and is leading a number of high profile schemes, thriving on the direction and leadership of large and complex projects, while working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and design teams in different sectors and at all scales.
After 12 years working with Grimshaw in London, Andrew relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 to fulfil the practice’s strategic ambition to establish a west coast studio.
Under Andrew’s direction the fledgling studio has grown into a vibrant and thriving part of the Grimshaw network populated by staff drawn from studios around the world.
