Articles London Bridge Station Redevelopment named as the 'Greatest Contribution to London' by the ICE

The London Bridge Station Redevelopment → has won the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) highest award for 2017: Greatest Contribution to London.

The award was judged by a panel of MPs and CEOs, with the ceremony taking place on 25th May, hosted by BBC presenter Alice Bhandukravi.

London Bridge Station's redevelopment is a transformative project for London, which have been akin to open heart surgery, as the station has had to remain open and operational whilst undergoing construction works.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: "This transformation included building a new concourse the size of Wembley Stadium: a truly remarkable feat."

The station was partially opened in 2016, and will be fully operational in 2018, providing larger platforms; three new rail tracks, and a more integrated approach to the station's immediate area.
