The Victorian Government has announced that it will build three state-of-the-art stations at Marymede, Mernda and Hawkstowe as part of the Mernda Rail Extension Project.

Grimshaw has been selected to design the new stations along the rail corridor and will work with John Holland who has been awarded the contract to construct the project. The Mernda Rail Extension project will connect thousands of residents to trains for the first time, providing approximately 8km of new duplicated rail line with South Morang station and Mernda, three rail bridges and two road underpasses.

Construction will begin in 2017, with trains due to be running on the new line by 2019.
