Articles Grimshaw at Dubai Design Week 2019

Grimshaw are once again participating in Dubai Design Week, the largest creative festival in the Middle East, which runs from 11 to 16 November 2019.

To begin the week’s activities, Andy Watts and Chryssa Varna from Grimshaw's Design Technology team are hosting a two-day workshop on Immersive Design Technologies →. Attendees are offered a hands-on look at how to use virtual reality and augmented reality as design aids, linking computational design with immersive technologies.

On 13 November 2019, Grimshaw’s Dubai studio opens its doors to the public to showcase the practice’s work from around the globe in an Open House →. With Architect’s on hand to offer Augmented Reality experiences and Virtual Reality demonstrations of the Dubai Expo 2020 Sustainability Pavilion →, visitors are promised a fascinating insight into some of the practice’s exciting projects and innovative tools. The Open House also includes a display celebrating Sir Nicholas Grimshaw being awarded the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture earlier in 2019.

Grimshaw’s involvement in Dubai Design Week culminates on 13 November 2019, with Chairman Andrew Whalley joining a panel on Creating the Future →. The discussion will explore the impact of the forthcoming Dubai Expo 2020, examining the significance of the World Expo and the legacy of the various projects designed for it.
