Grimshaw Associate Annabel Koeck has been selected by the RIBA Journal for their 2020 cohort of Rising Stars.
Described as a "leader of complex projects and mentor of the next generation", Annabel's selection celebrates her notable contributions both within Grimshaw and across the wider architecture profession. The RIBA J's citation in announcing Annabel as a Rising Star highlights her key leadership role in such projects at the North London Heat and Power Project → and the refurbishment of the Upper Norwood Library Hub's Community Centre, delivered by the London studio's Community Engagement Team, which she oversees.
The judges were particularly impressed with what Annabel achieves through her work with the next generation of architects.
She is a co-founder of Scale Rule, which encourages diversity in architecture, engineering and construction, has collaborated with the British Council for Offices to invite start-up founders to talk to young professionals in the industry, and has partnered with the Octopus Network, helping them achieve a successful application to the National Lottery Climate Fund.
The RIBA J stated that "it is clear Koeck is using her leadership drive to effect positive change".
