Grimshaw partner Andrew Byrne → has joined the Executive Committee of the US High Speed Rail Association, making Grimshaw the first architecture practice to publicly support investment in this sector.
The US High Speed Rail Association is the premier membership advocacy organization and trade association advancing fast rail across America. It was founded in 2009 as an independent non-profit organization with the mission to build widespread public, business, and political support for a major federal investment in America's national rail network.
Andrew said of his appointment: “It is an honor to join the inaugural Executive Committee of the US High Speed Rail Association... As a recognized global architectural practice with a rich history of designing rail and transportation architecture, Grimshaw is proud to support increased investment in the expansion of High Speed Rail across the United States. The inclusion of High Speed Rail in our cities will make positive steps forward in addressing the global climate crisis, reduce inequity, and improve the experience of the cites we live in.”
Grimshaw is a major player in the rail and transportation sector globally and has completed significant award winning projects such as International Terminal Waterloo → and London Bridge Station → redevelopment in the UK and the Fulton Centre → in New York and Southern Cross Station → in Melbourne, Australia. The practice is also currently designing three of the major station for the UK’s High Speed Rail 2 project as well as a 3.4km viaduct for the scheme.
