The Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) programme celebrates the best of Australian interior and product design.
In recognition of how 35 Collins Street → has been designed to enhance the efficiency of a workplace, not just from the perspective of user productivity, but also with regards to comfort and happiness, the adaptive reuse project has been shortlisted for the IDEA → Workplace Over 1000sqm category.
The revisioning of 35 Collins Street retains the best aspects of the legacy scheme while providing strategic, considered interventions to ensure the iconic workplace remains a valued part of Melbourne’s commercial fabric. Emphasising volume, transparency, light and connection, it transforms the already premium space into a next-generation workplace.
Notably, as an iconic Melbourne building with a 40-year history, 35 Collins Street demonstrates how new activity-based working models can be successfully integrated into an existing building, all while enhancing the vibrancy of the public realm and broader cultural offer.
The variety and flexibility of the new spaces, the extension of vistas from and to the street, and the sophisticated, bespoke detailing of the interiors all work in unison to provide an urban, community-focused series of spaces that seek to enrich the workplace.
Winners of the 2021 IDEA will be announced in late November 2021.
