Grimshaw and MDT-tex's collaboration on the Tensilation Modular Canopy system → has been awarded the Architects' Journal AJ100 'Architectural Collaboration of the Year' award.

The canopy is the result of an intense design and prototyping process, which culminated in a prototype canopy being unveiled in 2015 for Clerkenwell Design Week. The final product made its debut at Light + Building Festival in Frankfurt last year, and has since been popping up at various locations around the globe.

‘The winning entry highlights a successful, proactive relationship between a designer and a manufacturer that goes above and beyond the standard day job,’ said the panel. ‘It was about wanting to explore something. There was an excitement there that was truly collaborative.’
